Linguini and Clams at Uncle Vinnie's Clam Bar
A few weeks ago my family and I went to my favorite local Italian/Seafood restaurant , Uncle Vinnie's Clam Bar in Raritan, NJ. Uncle Vinnies is about the size of some peoples living rooms, and there are usually long waits ( kids, bring a Ipod or something techie and wait it out). It's worth the wait. The food is extraordinary. When I go, I usually get the linguini and white clam sauce. It is some of the best I've ever had, and I order it a lot. They don't cheat you on the clams. They are sweet and fresh. Along with the chopped kind in the sauce, you also get whole clams in the shell. The sauce is light but packs a flavorful punch. It's perfectly lemony and garlicky. The night we went, we had a killer appetizer. It was fried calamari tossed with gorgonzola cheese and a balsamic vinegar reduction. It also had scallions, red onions, and chopped tomato. If they have it when you go, get it! Another cool perk to this restaurant is that when eating, you can see the chefs cook. The waitresses are really nice too. And remember, don't be afraid to try it!
